Athletes Shine at Pomona Valley Special Olympics Track and Field Event

On May 3, 2025, the Pomona Valley Special Olympics held their annual Track and Field Event at the Boys Republic in Chino Hills. Approximately 300 athletes from across Southern California came to compete in various Track and Field events, as well as Bocce Ball. Medals were awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, and all participants received ribbons in recognition of their efforts.

This regional event serves as a qualifier for the Southern California Summer Games, which will take place at Cal State Long Beach from June 6 to June 8. First-place winners at the Summer Games will have the opportunity to advance to the USA Games, which will be held this year in Minnesota.

Special Olympics supports athletes with intellectual disabilities beginning at age 8, and its programs are available worldwide.

The day was a great success! A special thank you goes to Diamond Ranch High School Key Club members Liliana Lui, Rachel Kang, Abigail Garnica, and Emily Phan, whose support and participation helped ensure that all athletes were acknowledged and celebrated for their achievements.
